The staff of the First Kingsport Credit Union takes much pride in serving our members. We are credit union people who believe in the philosophy of "people helping people". The credit union was formed by a merger between Municipal Employees Credit Union and Kingsport Postal and Federal Employees Credit Union. Municipal Employees Credit Union was the surviving credit union but wanted to change the name to reflect our love of Kingsport and to make our new members feel welcome, thus the name change to First Kingsport Credit Union. Municipal Employees Credit Union was formed in 1932 for City of Kingsport Employees, and Kingsport Postal and Federal Employees Credit Union was formed in the 50's for employees of the Kingsport area Post Office's and Federal Government employees.
The staff is headed up by Beverly Boling, who has been an employee of the credit union since 1979. Beverly states that when she came to work at the credit union, she worked part-time and the only other employee was the manager. This was in 1979 and the assets were only $500,000. Now our assets are in excess of 21 million dollars and there are 9 full-time employees and one part -time employee. Times have changed, but attitudes are the same. The staff has a purpose and that is to assist members!
