When you have direct deposit, you can save yourself so much time and effort. Some examples are:

*Your net check is in your account the night before payday. For example, let's say you are paid every other Friday. With direct deposit, your account will be credited the Thursday night before. When our processor runs the overnight processing, credits are always posted before debits. This means that you could avoid a returned check if you wait until Friday to pick up your check and come to the credit union to make a deposit.

*When you are signed up to use the "call unit" or "on-line banking", you will have access to your funds and will be able to inquire on your direct deposit once the ACH system has been processed that night. Most of the time this is between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. the night before your regular pay day.

*The credit union accepts direct deposit from any provider. Your spouse can also direct deposit into your joint account or into his/her own account. Direct deposit can credit your share or share draft account. If your company or employer has the ability, you can direct deposit to any and all accounts at the credit union.

To sign up for direct deposit at First Kingsport Credit Union, all you need to do is contact your employer or payee, or come by the credit union as we keep a supply of all direct deposit forms.

The credit union's routing number is 264279334 (often referred to as R/T or ABA number). To find your account number, look in the middle line on the bottom of your share drafts and it will have some zero's and then your account number, or refer to your membership card and put all the numbers together without using the dash. Remember, in order to direct deposit into shares, use your savings account number which has a number ,1 the second from the last; or to direct deposit into your share draft account, use your share draft account number which is your regular account number with a 7, the second digit from the last. For example:

If your regular First Kingsport Credit Union account number is 0000-010 (as shown on your membership card) this is your share account number and your share draft account number would be 0000070.
